Holy Oak

The following entry uses the word prompt Oak as inspiration.

The large holy oak calls to me,
inviting me to climb

Life is peaceful, up here
Far away from the clamor
and every once in a while,
I feel like looking down

How odd it is that the only time I feel fear
is when I’m looking where I’m from

Down there, is pain
Down there, is heartbreak
Down there, is the fall

How curious it is
that the only time I feel in danger
is when I focus on the fall

Up here, it’s pleasant
Up here, love is made
Up here, is the present
and in this moment, I’m alive

Yet just above, a little further
the great unknown is within my reach

Up there, it’s uncertain
Up there, things come undone
Up there, one might glimpse the future

But I’m happy where I am
